“THEY’RE IRISH! THEY’RE CATHOLIC!! THEY’RE GUILTY!!!”©
 
Activist play based on 1806 trial transcript of two Irish Immigrants to Massachusetts who were hanged and dissected for a murder they did not commit. It was written to persuade Governor Michael Dukakis to grant them posthumous pardons which he did on March 14, 1984. Won Award from Massachusetts Anti-Death Penalty Commission.

“THE BURNING OF THE OLD HOUSE”©

A comedy. Grandfather tells young grandson about the burning of their old Massachusetts farmhouse when a visiting cousin appears inquiring about long-dead Aunt Mame’s huge rosary beads she feels should have been given to her. Won award as Best Play of 1982 by RAPT.


“BOBBY WALTERS INTERVIEWS
LILLIE LANGTRY AT AGE 50”

A Victorian comedy. Cub reporter for the New York Sun interviews actress Lillie Langtry on her arrival in New York in 1912. Is sent by editor to determine if the Prince of Wales is the father of her daughter Jean-Marie. Won Best Play of the year of 1985 by RAPT.

“THE COPYCAT” ©
 

Young man in 1955 is upset at death of actor James Dean and emulates his look and speech in dialogue with his farmer friend trying to justify his becoming a copycat of the actor.


 “THE NAME IS AKHENATON”©
Drama about a treason trial of the Pharaoh Akhenaton of ancient Egypt whose worship of the Aton infuriated the country. His brother Tutankhamon casts deciding vote for exile or death.

“MARILYN AND ROBERT; TWO POLITICAL SUICIDES?”©
A fantasy séance between Marilyn Monroe and Doctor Robert Soblen who sit before two coffins and discuss the personal and political motives that led to their deaths. Both died days apart in 1962. Play was performed once in a funeral home on August 5, 1992…the 30th anniversary of her death.

“LEADER WITH A CAUSE”©
Four college friends meet in bar to discuss strange behavior of a fifth friend. He arrives and states he is hooked on heroin, his girl friend is pregnant, and they plan to run away to Canada to solve their problems. Friends try to convince him to enter a treatment facility.

“NOVALETTA MEANS LITTLE STAR”©

A short Christmas play. Traveler stops at motel in Chama New Mexico on Christmas Eve and obtains last room available. Party takes place in motel office when a Native American couple knock on door and want room as she is about to deliver their baby.

The closing of 100 year old Prospect Hill School in Westfield Massachusetts includes history of school and interviews with lifelong residents, former pupils and teachers. (1991)

"THE PEANUT BOWL REVISITED" © (90 minutes)
In 1948, Westfield High School was the first northern high school invited to participate in the Columbus Georgia Peanut Bowl...a sort of national Rose Bowl for high schools. Westfield won and successfully defended their Championship in 1949. (1987)

"FROM SEED TO ASH"© (45 minutes)
A history of how tobacco is grown in the Connecticut Valley. (1993)

"REMEMBERING A RELUCTANT REBEL" © (45 minutes)
Memorial service for James Dean on 50th anniversary of his death. (9/30/95)
